January 2021 Fiber Construction Update

A new year is upon us and with it comes new goals and resolutions. As individuals, many of us set resolutions for the year ahead, aiming for challenges and improvement. We are no different with organizational goals at BARC. After a strong close to an unprecedented year with unforeseen challenges, we are setting our sights high as we continue to expand broadband service to our community.

This year we are aiming to construct 500 miles of fiber, the largest single-year undertaking since we began in 2017. The table below outlines all 2021 planned construction. For information on past project areas, please visit our website.

While construction is still going on in your area, be sure to take advantage of our “free service drop” promotion if you live in an eligible area. You can do this online by visiting our website http://shop.barcconnects.net or calling 800-846-2272 and one of our Customer Service team members will be happy to assist you.

Please note that if you live in the areas of Route 11 North (Furrs Mill to Raphine); Route 60 West (City limits to Kerrs Creek); or Sterrett Road / Swope Lane, the free service drop promotion is closed. Contact BARC Connects for a fiber service extension estimate if you are interested in getting service for these three areas.

Construction will be moving forward soon for the Town of Goshen ARC fiber project and we encourage all residents and businesses to sign up for service now so we can have you in our queue as construction is completed. Additionally, work in Rockbridge County has begun on the Effinger/Glasgow circuit. Consumers with eligible addresses should have received information on how to sign up for service. You can always check our website https://www.barcconnects.net/news to see if your address is eligible for service by selecting “Sign Up Now”.

If you have any questions or concerns about the project, our crews, or anything related to BARC services, please contact us at 800-846-2272 or via email at support@barcconnects.net. We are excited about 2021 and continuing fiber service expansion through the upcoming year.
