June 2018 Construction Update
Summer is arriving in the Valley, and with the changing season come changes in our deployment of fiber to you. We know our customers are eager to be connected to our Ultra-Fast Internet, Television, and Unlimited Telephone services, and we very much share that same eagerness.
Our leadership team is constantly identifying and evaluating measures to improve the construction schedule. Last week, six additional contract engineers joined the project team. They are adding support to our “make ready” process, whereby we prepare (and often replace) poles in preparation for fiber attachment. With thousands of poles involved in this project, these engineers were added to improve the timeliness of engineering all this necessary upfront work.
Along with additional engineers, we have added additional “make ready” crews to replace poles and make pole adjustments. These folks are working through a queue of several hundred poles that need to be replaced ahead of the fiber construction crews.
We also recently added Jim Miller to the team, to oversee fiber design, construction, and materials management. Jim brings 15 years of project management experience with a background in engineering and telecommunications. Jim will be working with our fiber design and construction contractors to find ways to maximize the use of all available resources. With the rain hopefully behind us, we believe these changes will help improve the timeline of deployment of fiber to you.
And…as you are connected to our services, please remember that we remain committed to bringing you a world-class customer experience.
