Community Meeting RESCHEDULED For November 29th
Due to the threat of wintry weather in our area, the BARC Community Meeting regarding the BARC Connects fiber project for residents in Birdfield, Country Club and Providence Hill has been rescheduled for Thursday, November 29th at 5:30pm in the Maury River Middle School library.
BARC Connects has completed engineering & design to bring broadband services (including high-speed Internet, phone and TV) to Lexington residents in the Birdfield, Country Club and Providence Hill communities. To bring broadband to communities outside of the BARC Electric service area, construction costs necessitate a minimum 30% sign-up rate for Internet service. BARC currently has not met that minimum threshold in these three communities and construction has been postponed as a result.
BARC is hosting a community meeting on Thursday, November 29th at 5:30 pm in the Maury River Middle School (MRMS) library and invites all residents in these areas to attend. We invite residents to come hear BARC’s CEO, Mike Keyser, and additional staff, discuss plans for Birdfield, Country Club, and Providence Hill, learn more about the construction process and the services we hope to provide.
BARC’s vision is to improve everyone’s quality of life by serving the greater Lexington / Rockbridge community with fast and affordable broadband services, and provide a competitive local alternative to current service providers. If we are to succeed in making broadband service available to everyone, it will take the support of each community to enable it. We encourage interested residents to join us at MRMS and learn more.
