BARC COVID-19 Update - March 17, 2020
To our BARC Electric and BARC Connects Consumers:
On March 16, 2020 BARC issued a statement that for the time being, we are waiving electric and broadband service disconnects, as well as penalties to our consumers. We want to clarify with all consumers that this does not mean we are providing free electric or broadband services during this period.
As a small, rural cooperative, owned by our consumers, we are not in a position to completely waive electric fees or broadband fees. We will not disconnect service for non-payment while we all strive to get through this COVID-19 health crisis. We will work with you to get your bills caught up for electric and broadband services, if needed, once we have moved past this.
While disconnects and late payment penalties are suspended until further notice, this does not release our consumers from the responsibility for paying the electric or broadband bills that they incur. BARC encourages consumers to continue to make payments as they are able. At the end of this pandemic virus situation, while we will be offering payment agreements, electric and broadband bills will remain on your account and require payment.
Please continue paying your electric and broadband bills as usual if you are able to do so. BARC, like all other utilities and businesses, continues monitoring this situation. We will work with you during this period and get through this together.
